Is My Baby Ugly?
No parent wants to believe their baby is ugly. And they’re right, from their perspective their baby is perfect and cute and will bring great joy for the rest of their lives.
However, from a different perspective, detached from emotional ties, it’s easier to be brutally honest.
And so today, I would respectfully ask you to be detached and brutally honest or find someone who can be.
Ask yourself or your brutally honest friend: Are my online events (webinars, webcasts, web conferences, online training and education) pleasant to look at?
If you’re shooting for the bare minimum. Are they, at the very least effective, conveying credibility and professionalism? Are they at worst neutral? i.e. they don’t DETRACT from your presentation?
One of the best things you can do when presenting in-person or online is to get as much feedback as possible and that includes an assessment of your graphics and visuals.
One option to assess your visuals are web conferencing consultants. Another option is to send a survey post event. The best option, in my humble opinion, is to record your next webinar and critique it yourself. If you find that watching/listening to your own presentation is a challenge, you have just realized that your baby is ugly.
